Journey illustration commission guide

Embark on a creative adventure where your cherished memories of a loved one are transformed into a captivating visual narrative.

How it works

  1. Initial Consultation: We'll schedule a meeting or video call to discuss your loved one's vision. Share and send images of their favourite memories, special places, objects, pets, or anything that holds significance for them.

  2. Storytelling and Research: Based on our conversation, I'll conduct in-depth research and gather relevant imagery to create a preliminary mockup. During this stage, I'll also be able to provide a more accurate quote based on the complexity and scope of the project.

  3. Concept Presentation: I'll present the mockup, ensuring that it captures the essence of your loved one's stories. Feel free to provide feedback or request changes.

  4. Illustration and Creation: Once approved, I'll begin illustrating each element of the collage, incorporating your preferences for colors, textures, and styles. Additional elements like metallic foils, pressed flowers, or 3D components can be added to enhance the piece.

  5. Final Piece and Framing: The completed collage will be printed and carefully packaged. I can also arrange framing to protect and showcase your artwork.

Pricing

The cost of your commission is determined by several factors, including:

  • Complexity and number of elements: The more intricate details and elements included in the collage, the higher the cost, please see below for an indication:

    • Central Focus (e.g., home, building, pet), approx. £150-£300

    • Medium Elements (e.g., objects, locations), approx. £50-£100

    • Smaller Elements (e.g., text, symbols), approx. £25-£35

  • Illustration style and medium: The choice of illustration style (e.g., hand-drawn, digital, photography) and medium (e.g., watercolour, acrylic, digital) can also impact the cost.

  • Timeline: Shorter deadlines may incur additional fees due to the increased workload.

  • Significant rounds of amends: Extensive revisions may also affect the final price.

  • Printing and framing: These services will be charged separately, based on the size and materials used, bear in mind larger or smaller than standard sizes (e.g., A3, A2) may require additional time and materials.
